Guan Zilan was born in Shanghai 1903, who was one of the famous female artists during Republic China. She used to study in the western painting department in Shanghai China University. She was a painter accepted the Fauvism in China earlier than others, and was a student of the well-known oil painter Mr. Chen Baoyi, by whom she had been deeply influenced for the contrast between colors and tones that made her styles gorgeous. The famous Shanghai magazine called "Good Friend" during the 1930s regarded her as the "leader" among female artists, and was a very active female artist , who had held solo exhibitions for many times, in Shanghai at that time. After the foundation of New China, she had created many oil paintings reflected new life and participated in local or national art exhibition held in Shanghai and Beijing. Many of her oil paintings were collected by the Association of China Art Museum. Guan Zilan died in June 13, 1985 and was 82 years old.
